Awesome day of  Fishing, Caught a couple of  Baby Snappers and one legal sized Snapper. It was very slow regarding bites and fish. My trusty Takacat is proving to be a stable dingy for this type of fishing. I run a 5hp Mercury motor it gets me up and planning fully loaded with my fishing gear.

When I am filleting my catch I need to keep a close eye on my cat Travis, as he is fast at snatching a feed for himself!

Awesome 2hr fishing trip, heaps of bites and baby Snappers. If I was able to stay out longer I would of definitely of caught more legal Snappers, two legal Snappers were caught and a bunch of Jack Mackerells were caught aswell. I found it a bit unusual that we were catching Jack Mackerell at the depth we were fishing at because I thought Jack Mackerell were more of a shallow fish.

Matakatia, Whangaparaoa

Awesome day of fishing, heaps of baby snappers.

I caught one Kahawai and a 1.5m Baby Hammer Head Shark the ironic thing about catching the Hammer Head Shark was that it was the only day I forgot my fishy towel so I didn’t know how I was going to get it off my line but then when I got it up next to my boat it spat the hook so I was so happy and relieved.

I caught the Gurnard using a stray-lining rig on a medium size Kahawai fillet and the ironic thing about catching my personal best Snapper that weighed 5.46kg (12 pounds) and that measured 66cm. The ironic thing about catching my Snapper was that I was using big fillets for the whole day and didn’t catch any big fish then I put on two rectangle pieces of Kahawai and that’s when I hooked this giant Snapper.
